Words have power! The words we think. The words we speak. The words we write. Since I was a child, I’ve always known this. I was taught this by my parents and by the book that guides and is the cornerstone of my life, the Bible. Communication…words…shaped for me a beautiful life, exposed me to places and people previously unknown, and helped me build a successful career.

I was raised in a small town; Augusta, Georgia. For those who’ve never heard of Augusta, it is known primarily for two things: James Brown and the Masters. It’s okay to laugh…we’re all known for something, right? Regardless of my small-town beginnings, I was blessed with a pretty idyllic childhood; a mom, a dad, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins. My family was first and my family was love. However, I always dreamed of and put words to creating a life outside of Augusta. I wanted to see the world, explore cultures, meet new people and gain exposure to new opportunities. So, I began to put the words behind my dreams and strategize the goals and actions to make them happen.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Augusta College, I moved to the big city of Atlanta. I spent a year in the world of Advertising at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It wasn’t a glamorous or high paying job, but I loved it and learned a lot. After a year of managing content and placing ads in the newspaper, it was time to accomplish my next goal. I spent two wonderful years at Clark Atlanta University, earning my MBA in Marketing and gaining lifelong friends from all over the world.

With MBA in hand, curiosity in heart, and my sustaining belief in the power of words, I’ve had the honor and privilege of gaining more than 15 years’ experience in the communications and marketing realms of some of the largest, most well-known organizations in the world. General Motors, Lenscrafters, Georgia Pacific, Caterpillar, and Fiserv all helped shaped my skills and allowed me to build a professional career that was a true testament of hard work, abundant grace and the words I thought, spoke and wrote as a child, an adolescent, and even today as an accomplished, well-rounded, well-read and well-traveled adult.

As I’ve made the leap from Corporate America to Entrepreneur, I’m now speaking and writing words that give life to Carnell B. Communications. It’s the manifestation of all of the experiences I’ve gained, the skills I’ve earned and the knowledge I’ve developed. I now want to give that to you; to help you clearly and effectively communicate and support you and your organization in success.

I believe words have power and I believe all things are possible for those who believe…

Fun Facts Reel

  • If I weren’t creating life, business and brands with words, I would be creating life, business, and homes through Interior Design. I love design and architecture!

  • When my television is on, you’ll find it set to HGTV. I’ve probably seen every episode of every show they’ve aired.

  • I have a heart for children; especially orphans. I spend a week in December each year partnering with Christian Haitian Outreach in Carefour, Haiti; teaching, sharing the love of Jesus and of course, bringing Christmas gifts to the least of these.

  • I have an uncanny ability to memorize random movie quotes and I probably know every lyric to every R&B song from the ’90s. And, I’ll use these movie quotes and songs during conversations.

  • I’m a foodie…no doubt about it! I enjoy food and in spite of my size, I eat a lot of it. My family and friends tease me about this all the time. Thankful for a high metabolism and “slight” enjoyment of exercise.

  • I have a pension for speed and adrenaline. I think it came from growing up riding my dad’s motorcycles. I haven’t met a rollercoaster I’m afraid to ride and ride again!

  • I once parented a Pitbull named Bryson…yep, sure did! He was the kindest, sweetest, best boy!

  • Last and most important fun fact, I love Jesus!
